1. You No Longer Need to Include Your Full Home Address

Most recruiters only need to know where you’re based, not your exact street address.
In fact, full addresses are often removed during internal HR screening to reduce unconscious bias and protect personal data.

Instead of:

Use:

2. Why It’s Best to Keep Your Address Private

Under Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA), you’re encouraged to limit the sharing of unnecessary personal information.
Your address isn’t required for job screening — and including it exposes you to potential data misuse.

Recruiters prioritise:

  • Name

  • Mobile number

  • Email address

  • LinkedIn profile or professional portfolio link

Those are all they need to contact or verify you during the hiring process.

3. When a General Location Helps

There are times when adding a broad location can be useful — for example:

  • When applying for jobs outside your area (e.g. “Based in Penang, open to relocation to Singapore”)

  • When employers specify a location preference (e.g. “Singapore-based candidates only”)

Example:

“Location: Singapore | Eligible to work in Malaysia and ASEAN markets”

This provides clarity without compromising privacy.


4. For Overseas Applicants, Keep It Simple

If you’re applying from overseas, you don’t need your full international address either.
Just indicate your current country or city and work eligibility.

Example:

“Currently based in Manila | Open to relocation to Singapore”

Recruiters focus on availability and right to work, not street-level details.


5. What to Include Instead of Your Address

At the top of your resume, your contact section should look like this:
